So the judges have been announced and the men entrusted with selecting South Africa’s first MasterChef are Pete Goffe-Wood, Andrew Atkinson and Benny Masekwameng.

The only person many South African’s might have heard of is Pete Goffe-Wood thanks to several appearances on Expresso, SABC 3 showing off a few recipes here and there. Pete has plenty of judging experience having served on the Eat Out Awards Judges Panel before it became a one woman decision and also served on the San Pellegrino World’s Best 50 Restaurants judging panel. Other than that you will have to be a real foodie to know Andrew & Benny.

Andrew Atkinson is one of South Africa’s top chefs, currently running the show at Piccolo Mondo, Michaelangelo Hotel in Sandton. He has a cupboard full of gold culinary medals to show off his pedigree and is the Director of SA Competitions at the South African Chefs Association.

Benny Masekwameng is another well travelled man who started out  helping his Mum preparing food to sell in Alexandra township. From there he went on to study catering and can be found at the MondoVino, Montecasino where he is the Executive Chef.

GGS gives the judges a thumbs up, no complaints from us unlike some others who have issues.
