A few more tips for decorating a cake.

  1. The cake must cool completely before icing it.
  2. Use a cake leveller or a serrated knife to cut off the mounded top of a baked cake.
  3. Use a lot of icing when icing the top of the cake, don’t let your spatula touch the cake or you might get crumbs in the frosting.
  4. Finally and this is the hard part, once you have finished icing the cake let is rest for 15 minutes and then smooth the icing out using wax paper.
