Ryan Hunter of GetDrunkNotFat.com has done some brilliant, “I wish I’d though of that”, research. He has meticulously analysed dozens of alcoholic beverages and arranged them in order of their calorie to alcohol content.

So what’s the good news?

Jose Cuervo Gold & Silver come in at an amazingly low 19.2 calorie/alcohol ratio at 768 calories per 355ml.  Also right up there in the good news zone is Smirnoff Vodka, Bacardi, Jack Daniels, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray Gin and Captain Morgan. All have a calorie/alcohol ratio below 20.

The bad news is that right down at the bottom of the list is Bailey’s Irish Cream (67.8), Kahlua (54.6) and most shockingly of all Smirnoff Spin (48.2), Bacardi Breezer (48) and Margarita’s (41.7).

The moral of the story is that if you want to get a bit tipsy or drunk with the least impact to your waistline stick to Tequila. Converse to that if you want to pile of the pounds while taking an age to get drunk, Smirnoff Spin is the way to go.
